What Falmouth does to a window
Falmouth glass takes salt from two bodies of water. Falmouth Heights, Surf Drive, Menauhant, Maravista and the Waquoit shore face Vineyard Sound and take spray on every south wind that dries to a white film within two weeks of a cleaning, and Woods Hole, Quissett, Sippewissett, Megansett and Old Silver Beach take it off Buzzards Bay on every southwest wind in summer. A nor'easter carries the salt across the whole town, the ferries and the research vessels at Woods Hole add an exhaust film to the harbor glass, and the fog that settles on the Sound in June keeps everything wet and sticky.
In Mashpee the beach communities get the same salt and the woods get the pollen. New Seabury, Popponesset and the homes on Popponesset Bay and Mashpee Neck take a damp haze off Nantucket Sound every morning, and the pitch pines and scrub oaks over Willowbend, Mashpee Commons and the lots around Mashpee-Wakeby Pond drop yellow pollen from late April into June and needles and sap for the rest of the year. Route 28, Route 151 and Woods Hole Road get salted and brined all winter, and plow spray leaves a de-icing haze on the front glass of homes near them.
Sound-front and bay-front homes in Falmouth Heights, Woods Hole, Quissett, Sippewissett, Megansett, New Seabury and Popponesset do best every two months, and many summer houses go monthly from June through September. Homes inland in Falmouth village, East Falmouth and the Mashpee woods do well quarterly, with the inside glass done once a year either way. Quarterly for homes inland in Falmouth village, East Falmouth and the Mashpee woods, which keeps pine pollen, road salt haze and mildew under control. Most people have the inside glass done once a year.
Do you work in the gated communities?
Yes. We work in New Seabury, Willowbend, Penzance Point and the Popponesset and Sippewissett associations, and in the condo buildings along Falmouth Heights Road and at Mashpee Commons with front-desk or fob access. Just add us to your gate list or tell us the procedure when you book.
Can you remove hard water spots from sprinklers?
